School Speech Contests
Students are required to present a 3-minute speech from a list of predetermined topics judged by Toastmasters International advisers connected with Rotary Clubs. This program is designed to promote the art of public speaking and bring forward the participants' creative thinking. Open to upper primary school and senior school students program.
Schools hold preliminary events to select two representatives for finals at their Rotary club level. The winner at the club level participates in a District Final, usually held in November, with competing students, families, friends, school representatives, and Rotarians attending these finals. More than 100 Primary Schools participate in the program each year.
Benefits for the participants: The competition provides an ideal opportunity for primary students to gain valuable public speaking skills. The event staging also raises awareness of Rotary International amongst primary school students, their parents, and their school community.
