RYDA is a series of practical and powerful workshops aimed to change the way young people think about road safety. It is designed for 16 – 18-year-old students who are approaching the crucial time of their lives when they start to drive independently or are travelling as passengers of one of their peers. It focuses on cognition development, building and increasing social competency and resilience and motivating low risk behaviour. The program is a whole day ‘excursion’ that provides Year 11 and 12 students with the knowledge and skills that will contribute to their safe and responsible behaviour as drivers and passengers. RYDA was initiated by Rotarians in Sydney over 15 years ago and to date over 430,000 students in Australia and New Zealand have taken part in the program.
