MUNA 2026 Warragul

On Saturday, August 1, thirty-two Year 10 and 11 students, representing six UN member 
nations gathered at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School (Warragul Campus) to 
participate in a Rotary Youth Program assembly.
During the half-day Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), six-student delegations 
representing Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United 
States debated three key resolutions. Discussions focused on major humanitarian and 
global concerns, including international migration, the placement of weapons in outer 
space, and the restitution of cultural property.
The MUNA event offered students a unique platform to develop their debating and 
diplomacy skills. Delegates thoroughly researched their assigned nation's stances, 
delivering clear speeches and strategic rebuttals aligned with their country's official 
policies. Strong teamwork was on display throughout the day. The assembly was 
overseen by Secretary-General Dr. Hakim Gassiep (Rotary Club of Casey) and 
Assembly President Di Harrison (e-Club Latitude 38).
Several awards were presented at the conclusion of the event:
• Encouragement Award: Türkiye (Emerald Secondary College, sponsored by the 
Rotary Club of Emerald & District)
• Best Dressed Delegation: Japan (St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School -
Warragul Campus, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Warragul)
• Runner-Up Best Delegation: USA (St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School -
Traralgon Campus, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Traralgon)
• Best Delegation: United Kingdom (Newhaven College, sponsored by the Rotary 
Club of Phillip Island San Remo) — with team members receiving individual 
medallions for their performance
• Peace Prize: Indonesia (Maffra Secondary College, sponsored by the Rotary 
Club of Maffra), recognizing the delegation that made the most significant 
contribution to promoting world peace and also received individual medallions.
This event marked the first of two regional MUNA gatherings in District 9815. The 
second MUNA assembly (RCG 2 & 3) will take place at Lyndale Secondary College in 
Dandenong on Saturday, August 15, commencing with the opening flag ceremony at 
9:00 AM sharp.
Sincere thanks go to all the Rotary volunteers who planned, organized, and executed 
the RCG 6 & 7 event under the guidance of MUNA Consultant Di Harrison.
