The City Mission Care Pack Project

The City Mission Care Pack Project – Hobart 2026 Rotary Conference
As part of the 2026 Combined District 9815 & 9830 Conference in Hobart (13–15 March 2026), we’re inviting every attending Rotarian and Rotary club to be part of a simple, hands-on service project that will leave a tangible legacy in our host communities of Hobart and Launceston.
Throughout the Conference expo, attendees will help pack hygiene care packs for people doing it tough, in partnership with City Mission Hobart and City Mission Launceston.
About City Mission
City Mission is a long-standing, community-based organisation providing compassionate care and practical support to Tasmanians experiencing hardship.
Their work includes:
- Emergency relief (food, bill assistance and essentials)
- Crisis accommodation, including Safe Space and Orana House
- Alcohol and other drug recovery services
- Youth engagement programs
- A free nurse-led health service
- Social enterprise initiatives that also divert millions of items from landfill
By supporting this project, Rotary is helping City Mission continue this vital work across Tasmania.
What’s in a Care Pack?
Each hygiene care pack will be packed into a reusable tote bag and will typically include:
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Hairbrush or comb
- Sanitary items
- Shaver
- Soap
- Hand towel or face washer
- Socks
- Deodorant
Every bag will be labelled with the contributing Rotary club’s name as a visible acknowledgement of your support.
How It Works at Conference
During the Conference expo, Rotarians will be invited to:
- Visit the Care Pack Packing Project area.
- Pick up a tote bag and set of items.
- Pack at least one hygiene care pack on behalf of their club.
It’s a practical, high-impact way to “do good in the world” together while we’re gathered for inspiration, learning and fellowship.
How Clubs Can Contribute
To help cover the cost of purchasing the supplies for the care packs, each club in Districts 9815 and 9830 is invited to make a minimum contribution of $50.
Any surplus funds after purchasing items will be forwarded directly to City Mission.
Bank details for contributions:
- Account name: D9815 Conference Account
- BSB: 633 000
- Account number: 210 732 749
- Reference: [Your Club Name] – Packing Project
Please ensure your club name is included in the reference so we can correctly acknowledge your support.
Why This Project Matters
For someone facing homelessness, financial stress or crisis, receiving a thoughtfully prepared hygiene pack can be a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued and not forgotten.
By participating in the Care Pack Packing Project, Rotary clubs across both districts will:
- Provide practical, immediate support to people in need
- Partner with a respected local organisation already embedded in the community
- Demonstrate Rotary’s commitment to service wherever we meet
We look forward to seeing you in Hobart and packing these care bags together as a visible sign of Rotary’s care for the people of Tasmania.
